Equity research on marine, energy and sustainability companies
I'm Ethan Jin, a finance student at NYU Stern. Each month I publish one or two reports on listed companies in shipping, offshore, energy and clean technology, each with a rating and a 12-month price target.

I'm an undergraduate at NYU's Stern School of Business, studying Finance and Sustainable Business. I started Pelagic Research to write about the companies I find most interesting: the ones that depend on the ocean, on energy markets and on climate policy. "Pelagic" means relating to the open sea.
On the finance side, I've interned in investment banking at Logan Growth Advisors, in corporate development at Geode Health, a KKR-backed behavioral health startup, and as an investment analyst at Heron Peak Capital. I also write for the U.S. Energy team at Elphinstone Research Group, where I worked on a report on Constellation Energy, and my team was a global finalist in the Wharton Investment Competition.
Before finance, I did biology research in high school at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UW's Friday Harbor Labs and Penn Vet, mostly on how climate change affects marine animals. I try to bring the same habits to each report: start from primary sources, and be clear about what would change my mind.
Outside of school I dive, hike, swim and lift, I've gone dog mushing, and I keep a long list of restaurants ranked on Beli. My favorite trips so far have been to Iceland, New Zealand and Norway.
